Banyule City Council's climate change projects
The Banyule Stormwater Harvesting project (three separate schemes) was commissioned in 2014 in partnership between Banyule City Council, Commonwealth and State Governments.
In May 2018 the Council engaged IVWater to audit the schemes in view of assessing their performance against the design objectives and to identify options how to improve the performance and maintenance regime.
Quality stormwater samples were taken on site and analysed to inform the system performance assessment. The sediment samples in the wetlands and the ponds were taken and analysed to inform safe, optimal methods of asset cleaning. The treatment plant assets have been audited and necessary upgrades recommended. Remote water quality sampling, monitoring and analyses system has been designed. The Findings and Recommendations report was issued and proposed improvement designed in consultation with the Council, the contractor and Melbourne Water. Planned for implementation in 2021.
